The Concrete Rebound Hammer (Schmidt) hammer is used to evaluate the surface hardness of hardened concrete in order to evaluate the strength in various parts of the structure. It measures the rebound of an anvil impacting a plunger in contact with the concrete surface.

The Rebound Hammer may be used for comparative testing, referenced against a concrete reference with known strength or against a concrete verified as conforming to a particular strength class. It is also useful for determining the ‘cure’ of concrete and for earthquake strengthening work.

The measuring device complies with EN 12504-2:2021(“Testing concrete in structures Non-destructive testing. Determination of rebound number”) and ASTM C805. This is an analogue device and is recalibrated annually by an approved testing laboratory.
